Message from SSDC President
HEY THERE!!! It has been far too long since we last talked, seen, or sipped socially together. It goes without saying that the past 8 months have been very trying for everyone. Some of our SSDC friends have come back to our fine city, while others have relocated (some only temporarily, we hope!). Since the evacuation ended 5 months ago we have heard quiet murmurings of when SSDC would hold a meeting, a social, a gathering of some sort...those voices have gotten louder as more people have returned to our city. Now that many of you have gotten out of crisis mode you're are looking for a normalization of social activity. With a successful New Years Eve and Mardi Gras behind us, and a VERY special Jazz Fest upon us...it is once again a very exciting social time in the city.
A good sign of this for me is the return of Where Y'at Magazine. SSDCer Josh Danzig and his krewe have been working "in exile" biding their time to bring back our favorite free monthly magazine back into publication (with an SSDC section!!!). They have decided it's time, and to welcome them back they are holding their very own reLaunch Party this Friday night at Republic (another "re"-new hotspot owned and operated by SSDCers.) I urge you to come by, support the magazine, the venue, and see your old friends and make some new ones. Also check out Loa as they start Summer Dress on
Thursday.: Some of our social picks...
