Dancing Fools & Things to do for October...

If you love to dance or you are looking for a couple of fun things to do in October...

 

Friday, October 1:

ALL DAY EVENT ~ "Oktober Festival" - Every weekend in October Traditional German music, dancing, food and drink. Details: Event Location: Deutsches Haus Street: 200 S. Galves St. City, State, Zip: New Orleans, LA Phone: (504) 522-8014


8:00 PM - 11:00 PM ~ "Swing' at the D" Dance at the National D Day
Museum featuring Leif Pederson and the D Day Big Band.

 

6:00 PM - 8:00 PM ~ "Seafood & Soul" Free Concert Series at the French Market

 For the second year in a row, Fresh Music at the French Market will host free concerts from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Friday in October.  This year's series, dubbed "Seafood & Soul," features five outstanding New Orleans bands representing soul, blues, funk and R&B. BAND PLAYING THIS FRIDAY-- Deacon John
Sponsored by the French Market Corp. and the Mayor's Office of
Economic Development/Music Business Development
, the concerts are free and fun for the whole family. Local vendors will be on hand to provide plenty of food and drink - including, of course, the best in Louisiana seafood.   The concerts will take place on an outdoor stage in French Market Place, which is adjacent to the French Market (1235 N. Peters St.) and directly behind Margaritaville Café (1104 Decatur St.).

 

Saturday, October 2:
1:00 PM - 5:00 PM ~ The "Boogie Woogie Weekend" event at the National
D Day Museum. The afternoon kicks off with a brief lecture followed by
a free dance lesson. Spend the remainder of the afternoon dancing 'til
you drop in the pavilion. If you haven't taken the time to tour this
amazing facility, why not make a day of it, and include a little
dancing?

6:00 PM - Midnight ~ Art for Arts Sake. Join the throngs of art
afficionados as the city's largest art fest kicks off in the CBD and
up and donw Magazine Street.

 

Sunday, October 3:
4:00 PM - 7:00 PM ~ Nickel-a-Dance Days at Cafe Brasil starts back
up. This free concert series has now grown out of October and into
November with 8 Sundays of dancing at Cafe Brasil.

 

Tuesday, October 5:
7:00 PM - 11:00 PM: Free Shim Sham Class and Swing Dance at Ebony
Square.

 

Friday, October  8:

6:00 PM - 8:00 PM ~ "Seafood & Soul" Free Concert Series at the French Market

MUSIC FOR THIS FRIDAY:  Maurice Brown & Soul'd U Out

 

Friday, October 15:

6:00 PM - 8:00 PM ~ "Seafood & Soul" Free Concert Series at the French Market
